Music of meaning

If you know me, you probably know I’m a metal head. I love Metallica, Megadeth, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, Demon Hunter, Red,  you name it. Metal may seem like meaningless screams into the abyss, but it is so much more than that. Its about anything and everything.

Its not about total anarchy, sex, and drugs. If you want that, I’d listen to rap. Metal is art. Take the song “Let Go” by Red. It’s about telling your problems and obstacles to go away, and if you do that they won’t define you anymore. Also, take “System” by In Flames. When life seems over, you need to keep moving, you need to keep living. When my friends died, I took my comfort in music that was about something, not something about  gang-banging and sex. I know some rock music has sex and etc, but that is not quality artwork, that is trash.

So if you think you know what metal is all about, do some research, and actually listen to the music. You may be shocked at what you find.
