NaNoWriMo 2011, Part 1

Being in the hospital gives a person a lot of time to think about things.

One of my most frequent thoughts was that I need to follow my dreams. Life is too short. I could have died from any of those multiple times I went into shock.

I need to achieve these dreams before I leave.

So, this November, I’ll be joining these crazies who write 50,000 word novels in a month. NaNoWriMo! (National Novel Writing Month) I’ve always wanted to write a fantasy novel, so I thought this would be the perfect time to write it!

This won’t be the first time I’ve done it. I did this back in 2008. And I didn’t write the whole book. This year will be different. I was a Sophomore back then, and as you know, November is always busy in High School. I’ll have a lot more time to write this year since I graduated.

There was also another factor: I didn’t do any planning ahead. If I had outlined, I think I would have written less crap, and more awesome stuff. So, in the middle of September, I am starting on my “beat” sheet, writing down random notes about the novel in my mind. It’s messy, random, and it’s how my mind likes to work.

NaNoWriMo, look out! I’m gunning for ya!

  1. Good luck with that! I hope you can reach 50k this year. Protip: make sure you’ve got all the details of your novel ironed out, and make sure you have enough ideas… no, scratch that, more than enough ideas to keep you going till the end, because there’s nothing worse that hitting Writer’s Block during NaNo. xD
